The Arts Development Council of Georgia will have a meeting at 10 a.m. today at the Blue Bell Gallery in Comer. "This is a great opportunity, and you do not have to go far," said Tina McCullough, the gallery's owner and arts council member at large.

Gardening time arrives
The Madison County Master Gardener's Association will hold its Spring Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to noon April 18 at the Madison County Extension Office on Sunset Drive in Danielsville.
Assorted perennials, annuals, vegetable plants and houseplants will be available. The group also is selling raffle tickets for a wooden arbor, built and donated by craftsman Ron Leuthner.
Tickets cost $5 each or three for $12. The drawing will be held at 11:30 a.m. For tickets or more information, contact the extension office at (706) 795-2281 or a Master Gardener for tickets.
Song time in Carlton
The Gipson Family of Carnesville will headline a concert at 7:30 p.m. April 11 at the Gospel Tabernacle on Watson Mill Road, Carlton.
The group - Bill Ashley, Randy Garrett, Chandler Gipson, Mark Gipson, Tracy Gipson and Mickey Campbell - plays bluegrass and Southern gospel music.
The Southern Travelers of Carlton also will perform, along with some solo performances by local attendees.
Senior banquet on tap for discussions
The second meeting of the Ministerial Senior Banquet for High School Seniors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church.
The first planning session attracted 10 people from five churches, but more churches are being encouraged to send representatives to this meeting.
This year's banquet will be held at 6 p.m. April 27 at Madison County High School and features a dinner followed by music and a special message and gifts for graduating seniors at the high school.

Seeking volunteers for parental classes
Prevent Child Abuse Athens is looking for volunteers to help with child care during a series of upcoming Madison County classes, which are offered for free or at minimal cost to parents.
The classes will run for six weeks on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. between April 23 and May 28 at Jones Chapel Methodist Church.
Refreshments or a meal and materials are provided to parents. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Grace Arthur at (706) 548-3216.
Christian concert coming to Colbert
The Watkins Family from Eastanolle will perform at 7 p.m. May 8 at the Colbert United Methodist Church Family Life Center on 2nd Street in Colbert.
The concert will be preceded by food and a bake sale at 5:30 p.m.
The Watkins Family was formed in 1982 by Don Watkins, who died in January 2007. Watkins' children are carrying on with the group, whose last album was "Darkness Wept," released in June 2006, according to its Web site.
