GAMEINFORMER

GAMEINFORMER

The theme of this painting revolves around several issues. The military-industrial complex creation and transformation of a virtual world and then how that ties into the reality of today. One particular video game magazine, Gameinformer, that my stepson subscribes to is loaded with military style games and the majority of the advertising is for the military. I noticed that the military adverts closely resemble the games adverts and reviews in countless ways. This painting attempts to point out some of these relationships.

Important details not viewable in this picture:

-Bottom right hand corner contains an address label to my stepson

-Several of the newest games are related to biological warfare; the virus images are small though and can only be seen on hi-res image

-This painting is the first time that I've mixed collage and oil paints.

-Additional materials include pva, clear tar gel, oil sticks, and medium molding paste.

-This image is of the painting at what I estimate to be 60% completion.
